DESIGN ENGINEER IN CO DURHAM

Mechanical Design Engineer required for long term contract position with leading diesel engine manufacturer.

This is currently a 100% working from home role but a return to on-site will be expected in Q4 2021. Since this role is considered a "hybrid" role it will then become a mix of working from home and working on site as the work requires it.

As an experienced Design Engineer, you will provide design assistance for engineering assignments including products, parts, components, or portions of major projects.

Design Engineer Role:

Sketch outline designs and use computer-aided design for detailed design, generating parts lists and specifications.
Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas.
Consult with the marketing department about upgrading the product, failures in service and reducing the cost.
Consult with the development engineers about new products and the application of novel technology.
Consider various factors of engineering drawings or diagrams, including use of the product, its environment, materials, the economics of production, safety, legal requirements, quality, production requirements, cost and ease of maintenance.

Design Engineer Requirements:

University degree in engineering required.
Proven design experience required.
Project management experience.
Combustions engine experience.
Valve train experience.
Analysis experience is a must.
CAD Creo experience is a plus but not required.
Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.
Team player and detail oriented.
Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports.
Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field.
