DESIGN ENGINEER IN WEST MIDLANDS

Design Engineer to provide design engineering capability to engineering activities/projects assigned to our Client`s design engineering centre.

Design Engineer Role:

Support the generation and delivery of concept and manufacturing design definitions, based on technical specifications, requirements, costs and other constraints.
Support the conceptual development for new products.
Participate in maintaining relevant engineering processes and procedures.
Supporting the identification of business opportunities.
Problem solving on existing products and product improvement.
Support the evaluation of technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions.
Support assigned projects, ensuring requirements are delivered to plan and budget.
Working alongside the customer on product development ensuring delivery of solutions to meet the customer`s requirements.
Keeping up to date in relevant technical areas, developing skills and capabilities, and giving support to others as required.
Actively participate in business unit improvement activities.
Hours of Work: Mon-Thurs 08.30-17.00 - Fri 08.30-14.00 (Flex option 1hr earlier or 30min later)
Travel Requirement: Up to 10%

Design Engineer Requirements:

HND or suitable mechanical engineering design experience essential, Mechanical Engineering Degree desirable.
Experience of 3D CAD design essential.
Hands-on approach to engineering design and development essential.
Experience of mobile off-highway equipment desirable.
Experience in the use of Pro/Engineer (Creo) desirable.
Experience of components and sub-systems used on off-highway equipment including drive train and hydraulics desirable.
Experience in an off-highway vehicle design environment desirable.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Excellent technical aptitude.
Previous experience of engineering projects/activities.
Planning and priority setting.
Appreciation of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems as used on off-highway mobile products desirable.
Working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems desirable.
Team player.
Integrity and trust.
Enthusiastic approach to work.
Interest in vehicle mechanics desirable.
