As an experienced Test and Compliance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring that products meet regulatory, safety, and performance standards. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and documenting testing activities, ensuring compliance with UK, EU, and international regulations as well as internal quality requirements.
This role offers the opportunity to directly influence the reliability, safety, and certification of new products, contributing to the successful launch of industry-leading construction equipment.
Test & Compliance Engineer Role:
Testing & Validation
Plan, conduct, and oversee product validation and durability tests, including prototype and production vehicles. Operate and manage test equipment and facilities to deliver accurate and reliable test results. Analyse performance against design requirements and report on findings.
Compliance & Regulations
Ensure products comply with UK, EU, and international safety and environmental standards (e.g., CE marking, ISO, EMC, and homologation). Support regulatory submissions and certification processes. Monitor regulatory changes and advise on implications for product development. Take the lead with construction equipment association`s general technical committee to stay up to date with regulatory changes.
Data Collection & Analysis
Collect, review, and interpret test data using data acquisition systems and analysis tools. Provide clear and actionable feedback to engineering teams based on test results.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate & well organized records of test results, compliance certifications, and technical reports. Support the preparation of documentation for internal reviews and external regulatory bodies.
Risk Assessment
Conduct risk assessments and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Identify potential hazards and ensure robust design safety throughout development.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with design engineering, manufacturing, and development teams to integrate compliance throughout the product lifecycle. Liaise with external regulatory bodies and test agencies as required.
Continuous Improvement
Identify and implement improvements in testing methods, compliance processes, and validation strategies. Contribute to knowledge sharing and best practices within the engineering team.
Test & Compliance Engineer Requirements:
Essential:
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience in testing and validation processes within an engineering environment, preferably in construction, automotive, or heavy machinery.
Knowledge of compliance standards such as CE marking, ISO, EMC, and industry safety requirements.
Hands-on experience with test equipment, methodologies, and data acquisition systems.
Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex technical data.
Excellent attention to detail with strong documentation skills.
Effective communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and regulatory bodies.
Desirable:
Experience with electric or hybrid vehicles, or battery-powered machinery testing.
Familiarity with EMC testing and environmental compliance.
Knowledge of homologation requirements for road-going machinery.
Proficiency with software tools for data analysis and reporting.
