Experienced Electrical & Software Lead Engineer to lead the design, development, integration, and delivery of electrical systems and embedded software across the product range. You will oversee both the software engineering function and the electrical distribution systems (EDS) function, ensuring that vehicle electrical architectures, wiring systems, and embedded control software are developed to meet performance, safety, compliance, and cost targets. You will also manage the EDS Engineer and Software Engineer, coordinate their workstreams, and act as the primary technical authority for electrical and software integration.

Electrical & Software Lead Engineer Role:

Leadership
Line manages and mentors the EDS Engineer and Software Engineer, ensuring their development and effective delivery of project objectives. Allocate tasks, manage priorities, and monitor progress to ensure on-time delivery. Provide technical direction for electrical systems and embedded software development.

Technical Contribution
The role involves defining and maintaining the overall vehicle electrical and software architecture, including CAN Bus network design, component selection and functional safety considerations. It includes overseeing wiring harness design, routing, and integration to meet durability, EMC, and serviceability standards, as well as leading the development and integration of embedded software for vehicle control systems to ensure functional requirements, diagnostics, and calibration are achieved. You will approve schematics, wiring diagrams, software specifications, and integration test plans, ensuring that all systems comply with EMC regulations, CE marking requirements, and other applicable standards. In addition, you will support prototype builds, validation testing, and troubleshooting throughout the development and production phases.

Cross-Functional Coordination
Collaborate with Technical project manager to ensure seamless integration of electrical and software systems. Work closely with suppliers to source and validate electrical and software components. Engage with service and aftermarket teams to provide diagnostic strategies and training.

Communication
Provide clear updates on electrical and software development progress, risks, and mitigation plans to project team. Lead and present in design and technical reviews.

Documentation and Change Control
Ensure all electrical and software documentation is accurate, controlled, and up to date. Manage engineering change notices (ECNs) for both electrical and software components.

Continuous Improvement
Drive improvements in design processes, development tools, and integration methods for electrical and software systems. Identify opportunities to enhance vehicle functionality, reliability, and serviceability through software and electronics innovation.

Independence
Own the delivery of electrical and software systems for all assigned projects, managing team workload and resources. Approve technical solutions, component selections, and software strategies within project constraints.

Negotiating Field
Engineering Team – Coordinate EDS and software integration.
Production & Quality – Ensure manufacturability and compliance.
Suppliers – Manage supplier relationships for electronics, ECUs, and software tools.

Electrical & Software Lead Engineer Requirements:

Essential:
Bachelor`s degree in electrical engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
Proven leadership experience in managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture, wiring harness design, and embedded control systems.
Proficiency in CAN Bus communication, diagnostic protocols, and ECU programming.
Experience in EMC compliance and validation testing.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:
Experience in off-highway, construction, or agricultural vehicle development.
Knowledge of functional safety standards.
Experience with model-based software development (MATLAB/Simulink).
