Experienced EDS Engineer to design, develop, and validate electrical systems for vehicles and machinery, from initial concept to production readiness. This includes creating electrical schematics, harness designs, and power systems while ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations. You will support prototype builds, conduct validation testing, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of electrical systems into final products.
EDS Engineer Role:
Technical Contribution
The role involves circuit design and schematic creation using Arcadia and AutoCAD Electrical, wiring harness design and routing, as well as knowledge of PCB layout and design principles. It includes performing electrical load calculations, working with 12V, 24V, and high-voltage (HV) systems, and applying CAN Bus communication protocols.
You will ensure compliance with EMC standards, design electric vehicle architectures including component specification, and meet regulatory requirements such as the Machinery Directive, CE marking, and EMC regulations. You will provide clear updates on electrical design progress, risks, and issues to project leaders, while actively participating in and presenting design reviews to explain electrical system architectures and design decisions.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Collaborate closely with production, quality, and suppliers to ensure electrical designs are manufacturable, compliant, and meet performance specifications. Work with project managers to align timelines and address technical challenges.
Communication
Provide clear updates on electrical design progress, risks, and issues to project leaders. Participate in and present at design reviews, explaining electrical system architectures and decisions.
Documentation and Change Control
Maintain accurate electrical engineering documentation, technical reports, and schematics in accordance with standards. Manage engineering changes for electrical systems using the ECN process.
Continuous Improvement
Contribute to improving electrical design processes, tools, and methods. Support root cause analysis for electrical system issues and integrates lessons learned into future projects.
Independence
Responsibility: Executes and manages assigned design work to meet cost, quality, and timing requirements.
Decisions: Selects design approaches, materials, and manufacturing processes within project scope.
Negotiating Field
Engineering Team – Collaborate on design projects and reviews.
Production & Quality – Ensure manufacturability and compliance with standards.
Suppliers – Work with suppliers to address design and manufacturing challenges.
EDS Engineer Requirements:
Essential:
Bachelor`s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Experience with electrical system design for vehicles or machinery.
Proficiency in electrical CAD tools (Arcadia, AutoCAD Electrical).
Knowledge of GD&T, wiring harness design, and electrical load calculations.
Understanding of vehicle communication protocols (CAN Bus) and EMC compliance.
Experience with DFMEA and risk assessment techniques.
Experience with 3D CAD design, preferably Siemens NX.
Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes.
Understanding of FEA and design validation techniques.
