COST ENGINEER IN STAFFORDSHIRE

Cost Engineer / BOM coordinator required to support both current product cost down and new product introduction (NPI), across all Excavator models (0t to 50t, Tracked and Wheeled).

Cost Engineer Role:

Manage and manipulate machine Bills of Materials using data from SAP and CAD, identifying opportunities for cost optimisation and providing BOM cost data for projects summarising impact on machine BOM of change.
To be or become quickly conversant with PLM (Teamcenter ideally), Legacy (Bull mainframe) and SAP technologies to allow monitoring and manipulation of cost data.
To assist/arrange and take part in competitive and own product analysis to achieve best in class material cost and drive profitability.
To assist/support in strategy development of “Global Supply” and hence financial implications and analysis of total landed cost.
To compile and review cost roll ups for existing models as required.
To compile and actively participate within NPI programmes to achieve specific product cost criteria.
To develop and add to cost /process/material database for process standardisation of cost estimating activity.
Supporting a team approach with key suppliers to eliminate waste, optimise design for manufacture and ensure best in class components and costs.
Working in Engineering, to liaise and work closely with purchasing and finance dept.

Cost Engineer Requirements:

To be at least a proficient user of Excel, familiar and confident with data manipulation and pivot tables as a minimum.
To be or quickly become CAD conversant to open and view drawings and models in order to analyse information for the purposes of costs review and control.
Likely to have an Engineering and/or commercial background
Understanding of cost estimation and manufacturing processes a definite advantage along with should-cost and make vs. buy experience.
Have a can-do attitude, be a team player.
