Engineering Design Manager, primary responsibility to drive engineering changes across multiple products and processes, and continuously improve engineering activities. This includes control and allocation of your team resources according to the priorities and projects assigned to you.
Engineering Design Manager Role:
Ensure that engineering change management is conducted to agreed deadlines, cost, quality and standards.
Ensure all engineering changes are documented in line with the common engineering organisation standards.
Ensure the rigorous application and demonstration of compliance with relevant legal and safety regulations to all allocated products during full lifecycle.
Control and allocate resource according to priorities and projects assigned.
Ensure resources and cost can be attributed to projects to allow good project cost control using the common engineering organisation standards.
Identifying and managing opportunities for improvements in processes and projects to drive continuous improvement actions through to successful completion.
Collaborating with various teams to ensure successful delivery of all engineering change activities.
Fully support the Head of Technical Support Services in the management and development of local technical competencies in accordance with the company strategy.
Fully support the Head of Technical Support Services in managing communication, training and implementation of agreed regional and global engineering practices and standards.
Responsible for all Health and Safety activities under your team.
Hours of Work: Mon -Thurs 08.30-17.00 - Friday 08.30 - 14.00
Travel Requirement: Up to 20%
Engineering Design Manager Requirements:
HND or BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline essential, CEng, Master`s Degree, Membership of professional organisation desirable.
Have held roles as project manager and/or engineering team leader with responsibility for significant engineering changes essential.
Have held a role as an engineering manager with complete responsibility for product, people and budget desirable.
Have held a role in an off highway vehicle product development environment desirable.
Have demonstrated a good understanding of engineering organisations, support systems and processes essential.
Have experience in providing direct engineering support to manufacturing units essential.
Business acumen.
Functional / technical skills relevant for driving engineering change.
Awareness of project-based methodologies for managing engineering change.
Good understanding of all vehicle systems as used in off-highway mobile vehicle products (Electrical, Hydraulic, Drivetrain, Structures, Operator Environment).
Good working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems essential.
Coaching desirable.
