JOB DESCRIPTION

Senior Design Engineer required to join a team of engineers working on a defined work programme based around Operator Environment (Cab) design and development, including new product introduction, innovation, future technologies, warranty issue resolution and product improvements. You will ideally have a proven experience in interior moulding polymer design and selection.

Senior Design Engineer Role:

You will be part of a team delivering varied work programmes from concept to delivery – from specification, through analysis, concept design, testing, and development, to engineering sign-off.

You will also assist to support in-house quality, manufacturing, and service teams in resolving complex technical issues or issues that lead to engineering change as the permanent solution. You will be working to design and develop a robust product of world class quality.

Lead and ensure the team will deliver the work programme from concept to delivery.
Lead the Category Polymer function for the Operator Environment team.
Operate in accordance with external ISO legislation as well as internal standards.
Problem analysis and proposal of design solutions.
Liaise with internal/external customers/departments, as required during projects.
Support achievement of business`s quality and warranty targets.
Lead and develop system and component FMEA and DFMA.
Lead/present at project gateways and technical reviews with supporting documentation as required.
Ensure coordination with other functional areas, such as programme teams, purchasing, quality and other development teams.
Work with suppliers to deliver prototypes parts to schedule, meeting quality and performance requirements.
Responsible for co-ordinating and representing the engineering team when the Engineering Manager is not available.
Development/mentoring of team members.

Senior Design Engineer Requirements:

Your passion for engineering, open minded approach and flexibility are all essential attributes. You will show a creative approach to problem solving and possess the determination to see challenges through to a validated solution. Pressure, tight deadlines, and exacting standards are all a part of the job, so you`re going to need to be the kind of person who relishes them.

You are a team player with a “hands on” approach to problem solving. You will operate and manage within a team and under your own initiative, interpreting specifications and contributing to technical discussions. The flexibility to travel to other sites when necessary.
 
Min 5 years` experience in product design in either off highway, material handling or agricultural machines.
Ideally experienced in Cab design - knowledge of Polymers benefical, moulding techniques, tooling process, pressings, surface design, BIW experience and processes to produce class leading interior fit and finish.
Proven delivery of concept through to production as part of NPI Process.
A sound grasp of engineering principles.
Enthusiastic and self-starting with the ability to make things happen.
Good project and supplier management skills, with commercial & customer awareness.
Be able to work to deadlines and deliver on time.
Be a great team player & have good communication skills.
Degree qualified in a mechanical engineering discipline.
